If you are interested in starting to run or want to get back into running, but don’t want to make any mistakes and avoid injury, we got you!

Running takes a little bit more planning and preparation than you think when you are a beginner and want to start. We have some beginner tips to help you so that you can feel confident in your abilities to start running.

The first step is to make sure to start with or incorporate strength training. Strength training is only going to help you when it comes to running as opposed to popular belief. Building strong muscles is a great basis for running as it is vital in protecting your body from injury and improves performance.

Second tip is not to think of running as just a back and forth movement. Form can be very complex, so this tip is a great place to start in order to prevent any over complications. Running should be more of an up and down march instead of  front to back reach to avoid over-striding.

The last tip is to not discount walking! Walking is a great place to start as a warm-up, cool down, or as a rest if you need breaks in your running. Breaking up running with walking is actually going to help your progress tremendously as a beginner.
