Creating Self-Reliant Patients
Many people view their healthcare through a “the doctor will fix me” lens. I see healthcare differently. My goal is to properly diagnose the problem and do my best to help YOU fix it. During physical therapy, you will learn how to maintain the gains that you have made during your active treatment period. I will work alongside you to give you knowledge and strategies you to keep yourself healthy and not have to rely on me to “fix” it every time. This philosophy provides a long-term solution for my patients.
Education
The ORIGIN of the word Doctor: Teacher!
I spend a lot of time educating and discussing how you can sleep comfortably and have greatly decreased pain with your daily tasks like driving, cleaning or grocery shopping. I will teach you strategies for dealing with everyday work place activities such as sitting at a desk or being on your feet all day while doing heavy lifting. Last but not least, I also teach you the best ways to stay healthy and pain-free while doing the recreational activities you love — whether you’re a high level athlete or a recreational tennis player or runner. I often tell my patients that taking care of your musculoskeletal system is very similar to taking care of your diet. You can’t eat just one healthy meal a day and eat garbage the rest of the time and expect to stay healthy. The same applies to your musculoskeletal system. You have to take care of all aspects of your life — sleeping, sitting, standing, lifting, household chores, child care, working and sports — in order to stay healthy. Finding solutions and strategies for each of these areas of your life is the key to staying healthy for a lifetime.
Hands On Orthopedic Manual Therapy
Physical therapy is the least invasive, most holistic type of medical treatment that you can receive. PT’s are the medical experts who actually spend time with our patients and put our hands on our patients. Your pain or movement dysfunction is often caused by restrictions and inhibition in your tissue that cannot be fixed by just resting or taking medication. I have extensive manual therapy training that allows me to zero in on the problem and help you get moving again.
Individualized Attention
Have you ever felt like your doctor was talking to you with one hand on the doorknob? Do you feel like you have to talk as fast as you can to tell the doctor what ails you because you know they are going to leave in five minutes? Each of my patients is a person and not just a diagnosis. I treat my patients one at a time so I am able to listen and get to know my patients to discover their needs. You will have me all to yourself and have every opportunity to get all your needs addressed.
