Hip flexor strains and injuries are very common, especially in runners! If you have this injury you are probably experiencing a lot of pain in the front of the hip with walking, running, or repetitive hip flexion movements. To fix this pain a lot of people’s first instinct is to stretch because you are experiencing that tightness sensation. Instead, you should be strengthening the hip flexor muscles because this tightness is actually a sign of weakness in the hips.

We go through exercises that include progressions so that you know exactly where to start as a beginner and how to advance the movements as you get stronger. These exercises target a number of muscles that make up the hip flexors as well as promote core stabilization! Most of these exercises use a resistance band, which is an extremely beneficial tool for promoting strength and stability. The best thing about these exercises is you don’t need much equipment and they are super easy to do at home!
